4th Grade Homework Policy
*We encourage reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each night. This may include read to self, read to a parent or sibling, Reading Plus, or being read to by you.
With your help we are working hard to create a love of reading for our students. Ways you can help with this include modeling your own love of reading, enjoying a book or series as a family, creating a positive place for reading, and attending events at your local library.
You will notice that this year BES will not be sending home reading logs. Instead we will be focusing personal reading goals in class that your students can work towards fulfilling at home as well.
* For math this year please look to see one math page double sided and one math reflection page to come home on Mondays, this will be due on the following Monday. We know how busy your after school schedules are, and how important it is to spend time as a family. We are hopeful that some flexibility allows students to conveniently complete their homework without too much added stress.
*Should students wish to spend more time on math at home they have full access to IXL and Kahn Academy.
The purpose of homework is for your student to continue practicing or reviewing skills we have been learning in class. Homework given should be able to be completed by your student independently. We try to differentiate homework based on our student’s needs.
Thanks,
4th Grade Team
